OOSH celebrations

27/06/2011 -
When carers at the Woopi Out of School Hours (OOSH) centre voiced their concerns about extended sun exposure on the children playing outdoors without any available shade, the Rotary and Lions Clubs of Woolgoolga stepped in and donated a large blue shade sail. In the six months since its erection, it has proved invaluable, even though the harsh sun has been rarer than usual.
Last Tuesday, OOSH said a big thank you with a ceremony and a plaque, along with afternoon tea. The centre, opposite the Woolgoolga Public School, is run by the not-for-profit Open Arms Care, a regional community organisation. OOSH Acting Coordinator Julie Freeman noted this as an excellent example of the strong cooperation between two of our key service clubs, Rotary and Lions, in contributing to the local community.
